Aloisio Arraigned on DUI Charge Linked to 21-Year-Old's Death
Joseph M. Aloisio, 48, owner of Pearl Restaurant and Lounge in Providence, was released on personal recognizance today after being arraigned for DUI in District Court. Police say 21-year-old Erica Moul of Smithfield jumped from his car on Jan. 28.
Forty-eight-year-old Joseph Aloisio of 3 Kiki Circle, Cranston was released on personal recognizance this morning after being arraigned in Sixth Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence.
He pleaded innocent to the charge.
Aloisio was arrested Jan. 28 on Route 95 after police responded to a report of a woman who jumped from a moving vehicle. That woman, Erica Moul, 21, of Smithfield, was reportedly dating Aloisio and jumped from his Cadillac Escalade and died.
Aloisio, owner of Pearl Restaurant and Lounge in Providence, reportedly told State Police "my girlfriend just jumped out of the car" at the scene and he spoke with slurred speech. He refused a chemical test.
Aloisio will return to court for a pretrial conference Feb. 24.

WOW! because a lot of people just jump out of big trucks at a high rate of speed for no reason right?? WRONG!!! none of it makes sense... Plus they stipulate that he was calm as he said his girlfriend jumped out of his vehicle... IDK about you but if my significant other jumped from a car and died I would be everything but calm... I hope justice prevails in this case... What a shame

No..a lot of people don't jump out of big trucks at a high speed...ur right...but some people do. Especially people that had done it 3 times before in that relationship which was even witnessed by others at different times. So no,not a lot of people do..but when some people do it,they most likely are doing it to scare the other person in an attention seeking way without meaning to hurt themselves,however,this time ended in tragedy...but it wasn't out of the ordinary based on her past actions...

Sandy and nikki, why dont you two go outside and get in your car. Now try to lean over fom the driver seat, open the passengers door and then push your friend out against their will. CANT BE DONE. Especially in a big SUV going 60mph on RT 95 with the wind blowing the door closed and trying to steer at the same time.

He thinks he's above the law so that'll be kind of hard. I don't know any innocent people that would refuse a breathalizer if they were sober and he stood in court yestarday and lied....."Not Guilty" one more notch for Joe trying to manuever around the law. It'll catch up with him because he'll continue to live the hard, fast life he does thinking he's untouchable. So sad.

ok! Joe has friends stating the only thing he is guilty of was drunk driving ! his friend John Schmitt has been harrasing her family writing several comments and threats that have been reported!! he says he is Joe' s good friend and all joe was was drunk! when someone confronting this friend if joes stating jor hasnt admitted to that he continued to threaten thr goncalves and moul family would pay if Pearl was ever closed!! none if her family ever said they were clising Pearl! but this guy must of posted about 20 statements to thr family ! he also wanted to know where miney was going and stated there should not be a fundraiser of trust fund this john stated joe was against that! the family has all his posts copied before he was able to delete as he did! he also stated there was nothing wring w joe doing cocaine! this john schmitt also stated that joe is in the middle of a case w another underage girl that left pearl and was killed driving hime after drinking!! he was attempting to what he stated stick up for Joe what a friend john schmitt is joe!! guess u dont need enemies!! all these comments were saved by family to turn iver to police! Joe can thank his BUDDY for the help!!! also this guy verified joe out the next night saying big deal!!

Umm...I don't think its Joes fault or responsibilty when someone speaks how THEY feel...also,you clearly don't know much about anything. John Schmitt is a mentally handicapped boy that Joe showed a great time at Pearl over the summer since he doesn't get out much...if he is allowed to speak on the internet,just like you have that freedom..its not Joes responsibility...again. take it up with Johns guardians..not Joe

To C, I don't think he pushed her out of the truck. He is still guilty of driving drunk with her in his truck. He is guilty of being too drunk to do anything to possibly avoid what ended in tragedy. He is a 48 year old man, she was a 21 year old girl. If she had in fact jumped out before, during arguments, than he was well aware of her propensity to act out that way. He acted irresponsibly and negligently and this is not the first time or even the second time his negligent behavior has caused people to lose their life. HE DOES NOT LEARN. He is just as guilty for the tragedy as he would be had he pushed her himself and HE DOESN'T GET IT. And THAT is scary.

Ericas family member actually randomly ran into a person who was directly behind them while on the highway that night... She alleged that his escalade was swerving all over the road....hmmmm??? Something was goin on in that car.... Also I knew Erica personally and am in contact with the family... I am not just someone pulling accusations out of my behind.... It's funny how all these people talk about what a horrible demeanor and character Joe had..... And then through the wood works ull find maby 2 people who are actually defending this piece of work.... Say what you want... At the end of the day it'll all pan out the way it should... I have faith... RIP Erica... There are still people here fighting for you... :)

I don't know what happened either way, but I do know drunk driving kills a lot of ppl and very dangerous...he should consider not driving that way regardless...very sad situation though. Poor girl...
