Robert Sanchirico of Cranston allegedly drove the wrong way on Route 95 and crashed near the Route 37 overpass.
A Cranston man who allegedly drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 is facing charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, obstruction of justice and various traffic violations.
Rhode Island State Police charged Robert Sanchirico, 53, of 598 Reservoir Ave., Cranston, at the scene at around 3:55 a.m. Saturday morning.
Police said they got a 911 call alerting them that there was a wrong-way driver heading south in the northbound lanes on Interstate 95. Troopers tried to stop the car, but Sanchirico kept driving and eventually crashed near the Route 37 overpass.
Nobody was hurt in the crash.
Sanchirico has a 2009 conviction for refusing a chemical test, WPRI reported.

I didn't see it reported out by any police department. I'll see what I can find out.

Mark, do you know what new legislation is before the House this year to carry serious punishments along with the stoppage of habitual DUI offenders that eventual mame or kill others? It's pretty obvious what we have been doing isn't working and I figured you would know more of the news than me :+)
