Five Things: Feb. 9, Babies, Chile, Sun, Satchel, Love

It's Feb. 9 and here are five things worth knowing.

Chile: Photographs by Nicole Najecki, a graduate of Coventry High School who spent 2011 teaching in Osorno, Chile, will be on display through the month at Art & Soul gifts on Broad Street. A reception with the artist is tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.

Babies: Babies from birth to 24 months (with a favorite adult) enjoy songs, action rhymes, books and playtime in each lively Book Babies session at the Hall Library. Book Babies gives your baby the opportunity to hear lots of language while you get to know other young families. No registration required.

Valentine: Are you in a happy relationship and want to share your story of love with your fellow Cranston residents? We're looking for happy couples to feature for Valentine's Day. We already have one couple signed up, but we'd like more. If you're interested, contact editor Mark Schieldrop right away. The feature will be just a few paragraphs describing how you met and why your relationship is strong. There'll be a photo too.

Sun: We had some mild flurries last night but the air was so dry none of it ended up reaching the ground. Today will be sunny with a high near 49, according to the National Weather Service.

Fame: Legendary pitcher Satchel Paige is elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame on this day in 1971. He's the first former Negro League player to get into the hall.
