Police Beat: Dec. 3 to 7

Recent arrests and incidents reported by Cranston Police.

DUI
Cranston Police charged Cornelius Taylor, 30, of 15 Harmony Court, Warwick, with driving under the influence Dec. 3 when she was stopped by police after he reportedly crashed into a parked car on Park Avenue and tried to flee the scene, his car missing a wheel.

Police said at around 2:27 a.m., two officers clearing a traffic stop on Park Avenue near Woodbine Street saw Taylor strike a car parked in shoulder of the road and continue east towards police on park Avenue.

Taylor was “traveling on three wheels, leaking a hazardous amount of engine/radiator fluids and smoking considerably,” police said.

Police said Taylor had glassy and bloodshot eyes and spoke with slurred speech. They also noticed the inside of Taylor’s car was “covered with a significant amount of nacho-type cheese” as well as his face, hair and clothing.

When asked if he was OK, police said Taylor said “Oh man, it was an accident, I’m sorry, it was an accident” and claimed to have drunk one bear a short time ago at a band rehearsal in Providence.

Taylor failed a sobriety test and was taken into police custody. He was charged with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test. Police also said Taylor was arrested by Warwick Police with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test on Oct. 11.

On Dec. 6, police charged Natasha J. D’Aguanno, 46, of 66 Oak St., Cranston, with driving under the influence, simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after she was involved in an accident and police said she appeared drunk.

According to police, D’Aguanno appeared disoriented and smelled of alcohol after police asked for her information. The accident occurred around 4:55 p.m. on Park Avenue.

D’Aguanno reportedly became belligerent when asked to subject to a field sobriety test and swore at officers. After the test was completed, she allegedly tried to run away from police when they tried to arrest her and while she was pinned against a patrol car, she kicked an officer several times in the leg.

Police said D’Aguanno continued to act belligerently as she was transported to police headquarters and while in police custody at the station, banging her head against the wall and screaming and swearing at officers.

INTOXICATED
Cranston Police reported that Diego Santiago Ruiz, 27, of 153 Whitehall St., Providence, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital around 9:49 p.m. on Dec. 4 after he was intoxicated and refused to leave BMC Petroleum on Cranston Street.

Police said Ruiz was laughing hysterically and screaming “Policia” and was unable to stand on his feet. Due to his “extreme state of intoxication,” police said, rescue was summoned and he was transported to the hospital.

WARRANT
Cranston Police charged Lamberto Jose Nunez Jr., 36, of 26 Bracken St., Cranston, with a warrant Dec. 6 after they responded to a disturbance on Bracken St. Dec. 6 at 3:09 a.m. Nunez reportedly got into an argument with his wife. A check of his information showed he had a warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous charge.

LARCENY
Cranston Police charged Susan Christine Taylor, 41, of 131 Oxford St., Cranston, with larceny and habitual shoplifting after she allegedly stole a wallet containing $265 from another woman shopping at the Plainfield Pike Walmart on Dec. 5 around 9:15 p.m.

SHOPLIFTING
Police charged Samone McCarthy, 28, of 33 Hanover St., Providence, with shoplifting Dec. 5 at 6:38 p.m. for attempting to steal several CDs and a 32-inch television from the Garfield Avenue K-Mart. McCarthy allegedly taped a paper receipt to the television box to make it appear as if it were paid for and tried to walk out of the store without paying.

Police charged Thomas J. Field, 53, of 9 Whipple Ave., Cranston, with shoplifting Dec. 6 at 12:40 p.m. for allegedly attempting to steal six articles of clothing from the Garfield Avenue K-Mart.
