Studio B Brings Exclusive Products to Garden City [Video]

Studio B, the city's newest full-service beauty salon and boutique, opened for business today. Owners Kristi and Steve Beaman met several years ago while working together at the former Dellaria Salon in Garden City.

If you walk into Studio B, Cranston’s newest full-service beauty salon, and feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp, there’s a reasonable explanation.

Owners Kristi and Steve Beaman met several years ago at Dellaria Salon in Garden City. She was the receptionist and he was a hair stylist.

“It’s where it started,” Kristi Beaman said.

Since then, Dellaria Salon closed and Beaman’s career has taken her across the country, including to New York Fashion Week as a makeup artist for Stila Cosmetics. The pair married and now find themselves back in the place where it all began.

“Now we’re back,” Beaman said from inside the salon on Monday, which happened to be Studio B’s first day of business. “It’s exciting, especially because this is where it all started. There’s a lot of potential and we know what to expect in Garden City. We’re excited to have such a great space.”

The salon offers a full-range of beauty services including hair, nails and makeup. It also offers exclusive beauty products that can’t be found anywhere in Rhode Island and previously required a trip to New York City or Boston, Beaman said.

“I’ve travelled all over the country and realized there’s a lot of products that you can’t get here,” Beaman said.

So Studio B is not just a salon, it’s an upscale beauty boutique with luxury products.

Beaman said the salon will offer feather extensions, which are very popular right now, a new shellac nail polish method that provides chip-free color for two weeks and a keratin treatment that is organically derived and formeldahyde free.

“It’s all organic so it’s definitely something clients don’t need to worry about.”

The salon will also offer a full range of bridal services and will even travel to events.

“We’ll bring the brides into the studio or go on site as well,” Beaman said, noting the salon is already “pretty booked” for the summer already.

The space inside the studio has a strong industrial loft feeling. The Beamans worked with an architect and designer to convert the space from its previous life as a Ben and Jerry’s with a purple ceiling and bright walls.

The salon will be open seven days a week — most salons are closed Sunday and Monday.

The hours: Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
