Bob’s Discount Furniture to Present $7,000 to Seven Rhode Island Schools For Arts and Education Programs, Including Cranston High School East

Donation Program Run by Bob’s Outreach Annually Gives More than $100,000

To Schools in New England and Mid-Atlantic States

MANCHESTER, Conn. – Dec. 1, 2013 – Bob’s Discount Furniture today announced that it will donate funds to seven schools in Rhode Island in support of arts and education programs. These funds are made possible by customer donations through collection jars at the cafes located in all Bob’s furniture stores, which offer free refreshments (including gourmet coffee and cookies) to all Bob’s Discount Furniture shoppers.

Each of these Rhode Island schools will receive a $1,000 check in December:

• Stony Lane Elementary School, North Kingstown
• Cranston High School East, Cranston
• John Brown Francis Elementary School, Warwick
• Randall Holden Elementary School, Warwick
• John F. Deering Middle School, West Warwick
• Esek Hopkins Middle School, Providence
• Mount Pleasant High School, Providence

“We value the community support we receive at all of our locations, and are thrilled to help enhance education and arts programs in these areas,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We encourage donations in all of our stores, and distribute this money to worthy schools and community organizations up and down the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic states.”

Every month, Bob’s randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its furniture stores and makes a donation of $1,000 to each one. This month, Bob’s Discount Furniture is supporting education and arts programs in Rhode Island with the cash awards. Bob’s has donated money to hundreds of schools over the past 20 years. Previous recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
