Is it a debate? What is the format? Can anyone attend, even if they are not registered Republicans?

This is an official Cranston Republican City Committee Meeting so only registered Republicans are permitted to attend. Below are the rules approved by the Executive Board. 1. Each declared candidate will have 10-15 minutes (maximum), uninterrupted, to address the committee about their qualifications, positions, goals, plans, etc. 2. Candidates should refrain from asking questions directly of members or each other, but may hand out supporting materials (pamphlets, palm cards, etc.) to members. 3. The committee membership will then have the opportunity to ask questions directly to each declared candidate following that candidate's remarks. 4. The committee will meet in executive session to deliberate whether to provide an endorsement at this time or wait until a later date, and, if it so decides to act, will decide which candidate to endorse (candidates, and persons present who are not voting members, will be asked to leave the room at this time). 5. The committee will exit executive session to announce its decision publicly.

I appreciate you answering my previous questions. Now, I have others. Is the press be allowed to attend? Also, why if this is a 'closed" meeting is it being publicized?
