HEALTHY KIDS DAY AT THE CRANSTON YMCA

For Immediate Release: On Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm the YMCA of Greater Providence will host their annual Healthy Kids Day®  celebration at locations in Barrington, Cranston, Providence, South Kingstown, Warwick, and Seekonk, MA.  YMCAs nationwide hold Healthy Kids Day events to encourage families’ to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles year round.  This free event *offers kids and families games, healthy cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, obstacle courses, bounce houses, free swim time for families and a preview of day camp.  WPRI television personalities Patrick Little, Michelle Muscatello and Danielle North will visit the YMCAs in Seekonk, MA, Barrington and Warwick, RI; and WPMZ radio PODER 1110 AM will help ramp up the activities at the Cranston Y.

At the Newman YMCA at 472 Taunton Avenue in Seekonk, MA attendees will have the opportunity to see the Shooting Stars dancers, visit and play with Hasbro Toys and all their products, and participate in face painting, day camp activities and much more.

At the Bayside YMCA at 70 West Street in Barrington, Healthy Kids Day participants can test Narragansett Creamery’s organic products made in Rhode Island, and visit with the Extreme BMX biker who will discuss Bayside’s extreme sports camp.  And, families may enjoy a free swim in the new Bayside pool.

At the Kent County YMCA at 900 Centerville Road in Warwick, Smokey the Bear, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Toe Jam Puppet Band, the New England Revolution Academy, will be available to celebrate with families.  Games, bounce house and fresh snacks will round out the day. 

The Rhode Island Podiatric Medical Association (RIPMA) will be conducting foot screenings at both the Bayside and Kent YMCAs for all those who attend Healthy Kids Day.  The screenings are part of RIPMA’s 100th anniversary celebration working in partnership with the YMCA, the Salvation Army and the PawSox to provide socks for those who may not be able to afford socks for themselves or their families. Families are encouraged to donate socks to the Socks for the Needy at either location.

At the Cranston YMCA at 1225 Park Avenue in Cranston radio station PODER 1110 WPMZ AM will be in the Y parking lot from 11 am-1pm playing Latin American music and some lively games.  Petco, the Cranston Fire and Police along with the Launch Trampoline Park will also be at the Cranston Y Healthy Kids Day.

South County YMCA in Peace Dale and the West Bay YMCA will join together at the South County Y at 165 Broad Rock Road to host a variety of activities including a free swim for families, crafts for children in Kids Care, bounce house and an exciting day camp preview – summer isn’t far behind.

Providence Youth Services and the East Side YMCA will combine their Healthy Kids Day activities at the Lima Elementary School at 222 Daboll Street in Providence.  Children will have the opportunity to participate in a kids carnival with all the games and activities focused on living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle including: family Zumba, making yummy trail mix, jumping on the Y On The Move inflatable, face painting, and much more. A new wave martial arts expert will be hosting a demonstration for all.
