Knights of Columbus Sponsor West Bay Spring Fling

West Bay Residential Services is excited to continue its long-term partnership with one of its local benefactors. Rhode Island’s Warwick branch of Knights of Columbus [475 Sandy Lane, Council 2295] is sponsoring West Bay’s Spring Fling. The charitable men’s association has a history of offering free use of its Sandy Lane rental hall for West Bay fundraisers and social events. They have also generously aided West Bay through direct donations, making them a key partner in providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities in Warwick and throughout the state.

The Spring Fling event is an annual tradition at West Bay and has been hosted by the Knights for the last two years. The event includes dinner and dancing for individuals who are supported by West Bay. In addition to providing the use of their hall free of charge, the Knights also provide food and music for the event. Members of Council 2295 serve the attendees and take care of all the clean up after the program.

Ray Conroy, Treasurer of Council 2295, notes that the Knights find great satisfaction in donating their time and energy to the benefit of individuals supported at West Bay. “We get to see the quality of work the staff of West Bay do, and these events are our opportunity to relieve their anxieties and give them a break from all the hard work they do, at least for one night.”

The Knights of Columbus have been great supporters of West Bay and the individuals the organization supports. Over the past several years they have made numerous donations of time, equipment, and the use of their function hall on Sandy Lane in Warwick. Most recently, they generously hosted West Bay’s Holiday Party in December 2013, and sponsored to West Bay’s Special Olympics team.

For her part, Gloria Quinn, Executive Director of West Bay is very grateful, stating “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate spring together through the wonderful hosting of the Knights of Columbus.  West Bay enjoys a long standing relationship with the Knights and we are so very appreciative of their very many contributions over the years.”

About Knights of Columbus Warwick, Council 2295

The Knights of Columbus Council 2295 was organized in Warwick, Rhode Island during 1953.  After three years of hard work by brother knights who donated their time, money, and prayers for the success of this project, it was announced that the Council Home would be dedicated on Sunday October 7, 1956.  Due to the founding leaders' vision and the good stewardship of the Corporation Officers that have followed over the past 57 years, the members of Council #2295 today are able to enjoy this Council Home.  Knights of Columbus Council 2295 donates to local Catholic Schools, the eleven Warwick Parishes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CYO, and other youth programs and charitable organizations.
