Raimondo Speaks to Habitat for Humanity Volunteers

General Treasurer Gina Raimondo recently spoke to the Women Constructing Hope group during the building of a Habitat for Humanity home in South Kingstown in partnership with Alex & Ani and the University of Rhode Island. Raimondo and the all-women construction group spent time at the house, which will become a new home for a South County family in need of housing.

During the build, Raimondo praised the South County Habitat for Humanity and the dedicated volunteers for their efforts in helping the community. She also emphasized Rhode Island’s need for affordable housing.

“South County Habitat for Humanity is improving Rhode Island by helping one family at a time and giving them the opportunity to live in a safe home that they deserve,” said Raimondo.

Women Constructing Hope is part of the South County Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers measure, cut, nail, and construct a home for local families in need. More than 75% of the home construction is done by women, many of whom have been volunteering for years.
