YMCA OFFERS JOIN FOR ME - EVIDENCE BASED WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - FOR YOUTH AND TEENS

The YMCA of Greater Providence is offering, in both April and May, JOIN for ME - an evidence based weight management program for kids ages 6-12; and for teens ages 13-17 who struggle with issues around weight.  This IS NOT an exercise or diet program.  JOIN for ME is based on a proven weight management systems program.  Both younger children and teens learn everyday skills that help them maintain a healthy weight as they mature.  The program offers lasting, life-changing skills that young people can rely on even as adults.

This year long program involves all members of the family.  Groups meet weekly for 16 weeks followed by eight monthly support classes.  Trained lifestyle coaches teach kids and teens healthy habits about food and drink, and also discuss and track physical activity.  Parents learn better food and health choices they can use every day.  Parents and children often see their health improve together!  Many parents even report weight loss, and more energy participating in this program with their kids and/or teens.
