Beware Black Ice this Morning

Fog and freezing temperatures will combine to produce slippery spots on roads and walkways.

Use caution on the roads this morning. Fog and freezing temperatures combined to make some roads slippery with spots of black ice.

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement this morning warning of black ice, occurring mostly on surfaces that "remain untreated."

Also, puddles from melting snow over the past few days line many roads and walkways and could be frozen this morning.

The icy conditions "will disappear around mid-morning as temperatures climb above freezing," the weather service stated. "Motorists and pedestrians should allow extra time and travel slower during the morning commute."
