Flooding Possible Across RI

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for all Rhode Island counties as a powerful storm moves through the area.

Rainfall could come at a rate of 2 inches per hour, causing street flooding as drainage systems become taxed.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 10:30 a.m. for Bristol, Kent, Washington, and Providence County, followed by a flash flood watch, which won't expire until 2:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Flash flooding is the primary concern, but stream flooding might occur as well.

Forecasters predict the storm will pass through by late afternoon, paving the way for a resumption of the summery weather Rhode Island had enjoyed up until the beginning of this week. The forecast for Thursday is mostly sunny with a high near 82 degrees for inland areas, with coastal spots and East Bay and Aquidneck Island communities a few degrees cooler.
