How Much Snow Will RI Get This Weekend?

Several inches are possible across the state, especially north and west of Providence.

The first snowstorm of the season will hit the area on Saturday and into Sunday, possibly dumping several inches across Rhode Island.

A winter storm watch will be in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Heavy snowfall is expected to begin Saturday afternoon, lasting through the night and into Sunday.

The snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain, and forecasters are predicting the snowfall will be topped with ice. Snow accumulations may vary, depending on how much of a mix individual areas see. WPRI Channel 12 is predicting most of the state will see 3-6 inches with a layer of ice on top. Areas north and west of Providence should see more, possibly up to a foot, according to WJAR Channel 10.
