Every year, Cranston schoolchildren decorate paper bags that are filled with Christmas dinners and fill a room at the Cranston Senior Center.
The bags are distributed to seniors living throughout the city who might have trouble getting to the store to cook a holiday meal. Or they might be widowed, alone, or otherwise could use the gesture.
Among the volunteers who fanned out to distribute the bags this year were Councilman-elect Don Botts and Antonio Barros, a Cranston resident.
Reader John McCarthy sent us these photos of the volunteers spreading a little holiday cheer.
As we reflect on 2012 and look forward to a new 2013, these pictures can serve as a reminder of how success and happiness is a team effort, each of us belonging to a shared humanity.
