Snow Snarls Trash Pickup Schedule

But things should get caught up next week.

If your trash pickup on Thursday was delayed because of the snow storm, be sure to get your bins out on Saturday.

Waste Management will be out collecting trash and recycling on Saturday with Thursday routes.

Friday routes will be rescheduled for next Monday.

That means there will be a one-day delay in pickups for the remainder of next week, according to city officials.

That means you should treat the week like a holiday week, putting the bins at the curb the day after your normal pickup day. So Monday customers will be served on Tuesday, and so on.

Mayor Allan W. Fung said Waste Management will operate on a six-day schedule next week.

The snow also pushed back Christmas tree pickup. The Department of Public Works will begin collecting trees during the weeks of Jan. 13 and Jan. 20. Originally, tree pickup was scheduled this upcoming week.

Be sure to remove every last strand of tinsel and all ornaments, lights, wrap or trimmings. The city needs a bare tree, which will join thousands more at the Central Landfill in Johnston to be shredded into mulch.
