Storm Central: 24 Parking Ban Begins 6 p.m. Saturday

Keep track of closings, cancellations and other storm info.

A parking ban is in effect as the city braces itself for the first significant snowfall of the season.

The parking ban begins 6 p.m. Saturday and will last until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Cranston was greeted with brief flurries early Saturday morning, but the faint snow didn't begin accumulating until late afternoon around 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service is forecasting the snow to intensify through the night and then turn to sleet and eventually rain as dawn approaches. Temperatures will steadily increase until Sunday afternoon when the high will jump to about 42 degrees. That's a nearly 30-degree increase from the overnight low of just 17 degrees.

In addition to the parking ban, a few closings and cancellations have been reported. Keep checking back for more closings as we add them to the list.
