Tiverton Residents Launch Community Group

Brian Medeiros, a former member of the Tiverton Town Council, is launching a non-partisan community organization called Tiverton 1st along with others in the community.

As candidates for local office kickoff their campaigns, a local resident is creating a platform for community awareness.

Tiverton 1st, a new community group formed by former Town Council member Brian Medeiros and about 20 other residents, is dedicated to preserving the quality of life in Tiverton, wrote Medeiros in a recent press release.

"Tiverton 1st is a non-partisan, grassroots community organization," said Medeiros. "Meetings are open to all who support preserving our quality of life in Tiverton by preserving both our community and school services in a fiscally responsible way, and promoting cooperation and community pride."

Medeiros said the group would aim to provide accurate information and facilitate discussion of local issues.

Tiverton 1st will also endorse and support community-minded candidates for local office.

"The goal is to offer voters a clear choice between the positive and cooperative path forward we believe most Tiverton residents want, or the divisive and self-serving course some advocate," said Medeiros.

An introductory Tiverton 1st meeting is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sandywoods Center for the Arts on Muse Wat in Tiverton.

The meeting is open to the public.

Join with neighbors who are Tiverton proud, and believe in putting Tiverton 1st. Learn more at Brian Medeiros' blog and on Facebook at "CURB-Tiverton", or submit questions, ideas and comments confidentially by emailing curbtiverton@cox.net .

We have a good group running for School committee. I don't expect liberal democrats to support me. I'm working for the average person who is watching every thing go up but their pay. For families who struggle to make ends meet . The progressives tend to be a little too self serving . They support things that feather their nest alone.

Electing a conservative group of people who are ANTI public schools and PRO waiver and have little to none interest in promoting education is a disaster- just ask Bristol. Add to the fact the three "conservatives"( your word- I prefer right wing extremists-with a detrimental agenda) refuse to contribute their share- voted to gut the schools ( and increase spending)and collectively have no knowledge of education standards, process and protocol- AND no children in the Tiverton school system and you can pretty much toss that "grand plan" out the window. The Justin Katz, Ruth Hollenbach and Sue Anderson route is NOT a part of any grand plan that works best for the community of Tiverton.

First Joe Sousa writes in the Portsmouth Patch- in response to what should be done with the wind turbine: "Burn it down ( arson)and collect the insurance money(fraud)" now he makes degrading comments to women. And he is running for town council? Seriously? Whassa mattah Joe- can't take an intelligent woman calling you out? Buckle up Joe, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Joe Sousa. 6:01 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 The proceeding comment was a joke Gloria . Don't get your panties in a rift.

You said it, Ginger Schmuck. I would say, "You said a mouthful." But it's probably full already...
