Country Legend Lee Greenwood Coming to Park Theatre

There are few artists who embody patriotism like “God Bless America” writer and singer Lee Greenwood. On Friday, November 1, the iconic country music legend will bring his award-winning sound and string of hits to the historic Park Theatre in Cranston. Tickets are currently on sale.

While Greenwood could easily talk about the accomplishments of his career, the high-energy entertainer prefers to continue writing and recording with the same passion that has fueled his years of success. Following a brief hiatus, Greenwood released a new seven-song EP titled “I Want to be in Your World” this past July. On the album, he exposes his musical talent on the saxophone with “Here Comes Love, There Goes My Heart” and also covers the Michael McDonald/Kenny Loggins ballad “You Can Let Go Now” which features McDonald on piano.

Greenwood has won numerous accolades for his music, including: Male Vocalist of the Year from the Academy of Country Music ; two Male Vocalist of the Year awards from the Country Music Association; and a Grammy for Top Male Vocal Performance in 1985 for “I.O.U.”

His song, “God Bless the USA,” has been named the most recognizable patriotic song in America. Popular when released in 1984 – when it resulted in Greenwood receiving CMA Song of the Year honors – the hit skyrocketed to No. 16 on the Billboard Top 100 following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Since then, Greenwood has played at countless public events, fundraisers, and commemorations of the attacks.

The singer knows first-hand what it’s like to have loved ones fighting for the freedom of all Americans as his father served in the Navy and the Merchant Marine in World War II. In recognition of Veterans Day, the Park Theatre will offer discounts to Armed Services Veterans at the Box Office with the presentation of an appropriate veteran ID.
