Festive "The Big Toast" Event Raises $13,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters!!

CRANSTON, R.I. -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State and 300 guests celebrated and raised funds for a great cause at the third annual “The Big Toast” on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Linden Place Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island.  Over $13,000 was raised to benefit the organization’s mentoring services.

 Guests dressed in Roaring Twenties style, wearing flapper dresses and fedoras for this Great Gatsby-themed tasting event.  Each guest was greeted at the door with a glass of The Spiced Pear’s private label sparkling wine provided by The Chanler at Cliff Walk.

 Top mixologists, including Gillian White from Cook and Brown, demonstrated how to mix the perfect cocktail.  The Big Toast Honorary Chair, Johnson & Wales Professor and sustainable food pioneer, award-winning Chef Branden J. Lewis met and mingled with the guests.

 Participating companies included Zyr Vodka, Grapes and Grains, Tenth and Blake Beer Company, Sons of Liberty, and many more.  Snacks and delectable samples were provided by several top area restaurants, highlighted by Basta Ristorante, Russell Morin Fine Catering, Wharf Tavern, Top This Fire-Grilled Pizza Crusts, El Rancho Grande and Napolitano’s Brooklyn Pizza.

 This special event was held at Linden Place Museum, an 1810 Federal period mansion located in the center of downtown Bristol, Rhode Island.  This unique venue, on the Historic Register, is a museum to days gone by and includes an art gallery, ballroom and tented courtyard.

 Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State is Rhode Island’s leading mentoring organization, and has been serving children all over Rhode Island for 45 years.
