Cafe Luna to Close Sept. 9

Cafe Luna in Garden City Center will be undergoing a renovation and name change after its owners decided to sell the business.

The notice was sent out this morning by the restaurant's owners, who bought the well-known romantic bistro in 2008 and said the restaurant would close "with mixed feelings" on Sept. 9.

"After five years of planning menus, cooking, washing dishes and visiting with our patrons, we have decided it is time for us to begin our next adventure in life," the e-mail notice said.

The new restaurant will be called Bistro 22.

After five years of planning menus, cooking, washing dishes and visiting with our patrons, we have decided it is time for us to begin our next adventure in life.

And so, it is with mixed feelings that we have decided to sell our business to a long time business acquaintance.  It was not an easy decision for us, but it is the right decision given where we are in life.

So what does this mean for our customers?  For starters, we understand the new owners are planning to close for a couple of months in order to make some upgrades, changes to the decor and menu that will keep our little corner of Garden City well positioned as a unique destination eatery. The new name will be BISTRO 22!

The old saying "When one door closes, another opens," fits well in this case. We are proud of what we have accomplished with Cafe Luna, and we are excited about the next adventure in life. We thank you for your friendship, loyalty and patronage and hope that you will continue to frequent this special place in the years to come.

Please stop in to say hello if you're in Garden City Center in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

All of us at Cafe Luna
