Container Store Opens to Big Crowds

The store is the company's 66th overall and the first in Rhode Island.

The Container Store opened in Garden City Center this past weekend and eager shoppers encountered big crowds.

At the same time, shoppers helped support Crossroads Rhode Island, a support and advocacy organization that serves the state's homeless. Ten percent of all sales were donated to the nonprofit as part of the store's grand opening celebrations.

The store is the company's 66th overall and the first in Rhode Island.

There's no question that Garden City Center was the place to be, store officials said.

"Garden City Center is the place in the Providence area," said Casey Shilling, VP of public relations and marketing communications in an interview with the Cranston Herald.

So did you go? What did you get? Are you feeling more organized?

We'll check and see how much money was raised for Crossroads soon.
