New Bistro Under Construction in Garden City Takes Shape

Until recently, from the outside, the former home of Cafe Luna in Garden City Center was looking pretty stagnant. A sign posted on the exterior wall of the once-popular restaurant promised a new restaurant was coming this winter.

Walk by today and you're greeted with a fresh new look from the outside. Clean, modern horizontal lines of wood frame the facade and glass doors and windows.

Lean in closer and you get a clearer look at the menu and concept that will be Bistro-22.

"Inspired Cuisine" is the tagline for this "classic bistro with a southern touch."

The restaurant promises to deliver "rustic comfort, family-friendly charm and fresh seasonal ingredients."

Sample selections include brunch, like crepes, breakfast in a jar, chicken and waffles; snacks, such as a cheese board, sweet bread, little necks; entrees featuring poached cod, duck breast, salmon, confit pork shoulder, ribeye; and lunch will tempt with oyster po' boy, shaved pork loin, smoked salmon, chicken tartine, burgers.

It all sounds pretty good. No word yet on an exact opening date. We'll make some calls and find out more about this new restaurant in the coming weeks.
