BOND Wins CMAA New England Project Achievement Award for Brown University Project

BOND, a leading 107-year-old construction management firm, announces that it has been awarded two Project Achievement Awards by the Construction Management Associate of America’s (CMAA) New England Chapter for its work on Bridgewater State University’s Weygand Residence Hall and Brown University’s Barus & Holley Building/Prince Engineering Laboratory. The CMAA New England Awards celebrate the most outstanding construction efforts in the region, and recognize the team effort involved in the completion of these complex building, renovation, and infrastructure projects.

BOND collaborated with design team Perkins + Will and the Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA) to deliver the 149,000 square-foot George A. Weygand Hall for Bridgewater State University. The project fulfilled three major goals for the University: the addition of 500 much-needed campus beds, the creation of a living/learning environment that supports academic excellence, and the unification of East and West campuses, made possible by drawings students from academic buildings in the West to residential buildings in the East.

Likewise, members of the BOND team worked closely with Brown University, Imai Keller Moore Architects, and WSP Flack + Kurtz under an Integrated Project Delivery Approach to complete the comprehensive infrastructure upgrade to the Barus & Holley Building and Prince Engineering Laboratory. The use of in-house Building Information Modeling and laser scanning facilitated BOND’s installation of new building systems without disrupting the more than 100 scientists that remained in place throughout the construction process. Rigorous Pull Planning sessions resulted in consolidated phasing and $1.2 million in subcontractor savings, which was subsequently reinvested.

"We are honored to be the recipient of two CMAA New England Project Achievement Awards," said Robert Murray, BOND President.  "BOND prides itself on its collaborative construction process and we are happy to have the opportunity to celebrate the success of these two projects."

Since 1907 BOND has been involved in some of the region’s most complex vertical and horizontal construction projects. With two distinct groups, operating as Construction Managers for academic and healthcare clients, and self-performing General Contractors for the power and energy industry, BOND is well known for delivering reliable, safe, and high quality work. The Building Division has completed high profile projects such as Harvard University’s Northwest Science Labs and MIT’s famed Media Lab in Cambridge, and the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge for the American Cancer Society in Boston; while the Civil & Utility Division has successfully completed two of the largest regional underground high-voltage electrical transmission line projects in New England’s history. For more information please visit www.bondbrothers.com
