Fung Lands Burrillville and Foster GOP Comm. Endorsements

Fung's two most recent Republican Town Committee endorsements in the race for Governor bring the total number of local Republican committee endorsements of Fung to seven

Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung — also a candidate for governor — announced two more Republican Town Committee endorsements in Burrillville and Foster.

“I am very grateful to the members of the Foster and Burrillville Republican Town Committees who have taken the time to consider the importance of this election for the future of Rhode Island and I am pleased that the overwhelming majority agree with the vision and leadership that I offer as the Republican candidate for Governor,” Fung said in a statement. “I have enjoyed visiting cities and towns throughout the state to present my vision and specific plans for tax reduction, job creation, and education reform."

Fung’s two most recent Republican Town Committee endorsements in the race for Governor bring the total number of local Republican committee endorsements of Fung to seven, now including Cranston, Narragansett, Pawtucket, Westerly, and Woonsocket, as well Burrillville and Foster.

Foster Republican Town Committee Chairman Bruce Campbell said "Having talked recently with Mayor Fung, we were impressed by his honesty and integrity and his tremendous accomplishments in the City of Cranston."

I believe it is also very important to listen to the concerns of all Rhode Islanders and to consider the needs of each local community in addressing statewide issues. This has been my leadership model in the City of Cranston and I will continue to offer the same leadership and vision as Governor."

Fung's is competing against Ken Block for the Republican nomination and Block last week announced that he secured the endorsement of Burilliville's GOP Chair, Stephen Rawson along with Barrington Republican Town Committee Chairman Steve Primiano.

“Ken Block recognizes that the key issues facing Rhode Islanders are jobs and the economy as well as ethical and efficient government.  He is the only candidate with a comprehensive plan to address these issues,” said Primiano.  “He has already demonstrated his willingness to lead and advocate for issues he believes in.   I have been impressed by his tireless advocacy for elimination of the master lever, giving the governor a line item veto, and ethics reform. He is clearly a political outsider fighting to change the system.”
