Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will hold Body Composition Screenings

To help individuals better determine if they are leading a healthy lifestyle, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is offering a free body composition screening.

Body composition is the ratio of lean body mass to fat body mass. Those with optimal body composition are typically healthier and feel better than those with a less-than-ideal ratio. A certified health educator will be present at the screening to explain individual results and offer suggestions on how to improve and/or maintain a healthy body composition ratio.

It’s important to note that individuals who are exercising to lose weight may not be able to measure their progress from the scale alone. Since muscle weighs more than fat, a person might gain muscle mass but not lose weight, which can be misleading and frustrating. A body composition screening is the best way to determine if health goals are being achieved or if adjustments should be made to the person’s diet or exercise routine.
