IT On Demand - Free Training Program

Tech Collective's IT On Demand program provides training for mid-level workers to fill jobs that are currently in demand by local IT employers. The purpose of the program is to train workers that have previous and/or related IT experience in the newest technologies and business/soft skills that local IT employers are in need of today for mid-level positions. IT On Demand is supported by Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston and the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island with funds provided by a grant from the Rhode Island Department of Employment and Training and the US Department of Labor.

Designed and delivered with industry involvement, Tech Collective's IT On Demand program provides unemployed IT practitioners with technical skills, business/soft skills, and experiential learning. 

The program will begin on July 7, 2014 and will end October 10, 2014. The curriculum includes the following training components:
• RI IT Industry Overview (Tech Collective)- (1 week)
• Technical Training (New Horizons)- An Object Oriented Programming review followed by Programming in C# with Visual Studio 2010 (1 week)
• Business/Soft Skills (Bryant University- Executive Development Center)- Leadership, Customer Service, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Professional Business Writing, Critical Thinking, and Agile Project Management (2 weeks)
• Job Search Techniques, Resume Writing, and Best Practices for Interviewing
(Tech Collective)- (2 weeks)
• Experiential Learning/Internship- hosted at local companies (8 weeks)
• Job Placement

Upon completion of the program, graduates will receive the following certificates/certifications:
• Certificate of Completion in Programming C# (New Horizons)
• Certificate in Agile Project Management (Bryant University)
• Business Management Certificate (Bryant University)- with 6.0 CEU's
• IT On Demand Certificate of Completion (Tech Collective)
