Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics Rhode Island
Are you looking for a great way to ring in the New Year? Maybe you want to begin a new tradition, kick-start your resolutions, or do something meaningful for others. Get your bucket lists out and be prepared to check off "all of the above" because the 2014 Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics Rhode Island is taking place at 12 Noon at Roger Wheeler Beach in Narragansett. You'll be freezin' for a reason on January 1st when you plunge in support of over 2,800 athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.
Too scared to take a dip on a winter's day? Come watch over 1,000 participants take the plunge. Also join dedicated "excelsiors" Greg Francis (East Greenwich), Chris Keene (Smithfield), and Lauren Mahoney-Pick (West Warwick) as they lead the charge into the water, sporting traditional red
bowties. These excelsiors have been chose based on both fundraising history and number of years they have plunged for Special Olympics and are dubbed "Head Penguins" of the 2014 event.
Registration begins at 10 AM. Plunge takes place at 12 Noon. For more information contact Lauren or Tracy at the SORI Office at:
