My Address to the Cranston City Council
Special City Council Meeting at 830 PM on May 5th 2011
My wife Deanna left for work today at 730am. She can’t make it to the meeting tonight because she will be working until 930pm. Together Deanna and I have the equivalent of 3 full time jobs and in this economy we are thankful to have those jobs.
I do not understand how those less fortunate than us can possibly handle another tax increase. This tax increase during these difficult times is a slap in the face to every working Joe in Cranston. It’s a slap in the face to everyone who works hard and plays by the rules. I am waiting for the day when my city gives me a break – when it says “you know what Joe we’ve raised your taxes enough, we know you’re hurting and we understand. We are going to do everything possible to make sure you don’t have to pay an extra dime this year in taxes.”
That’s the kind of leadership we are looking for and if this council can’t provide it then we should start tonight to find someone who can.
