Interior Design Trends for 2013

Thinking about updating the interior of your home? Here are some colors, fabrics and styles you should consider.

The Boston Design Center recently unveiled Trends 2013, and classic beach house colors and patterns are forecast to be among next year’s style trends. The report, a compilation of colors, styles and interior design concepts, was culled from the BDC’s showrooms and international furniture fairs.

Next year’s fashionable colors, according to Julie Rogowski, V.P. and GM of the Boston Design Center, include a universal favorite: shades of blue including navy and periwinkle and combinations such as blue and white, as well as light and dark blues.

Other popular palettes will consist of muted yellows with amber standing in for gold. On the neutral side, caramel and mushroom, both beige tones will create a backdrop for pops of color such as shades of red and orange, colors predicted to remain popular next year.

When it comes to pattern, Rogowski says expect to see geometric shapes, stripes both vertical and horizontal and animal patterns.

With more homeowners moving to urban areas, a metropolitan style with its industrial feel and emphasis on clean open spaces will continue to be a popular design trend.
