Cranston Man Shocked to Win Lottery Again

After winning $15,000 last year, Jackey Thompson collected $35,000 from the lottery Monday.

Jackey Thompson of Cranston won $15,000 last year scratching a "Rhode Island Lottery Limited" instant ticket.

So it's safe to say Thompson is awfully lucky to have won $35,000 from a winning "Sapphire 5's" instant ticket this past weekend.

Thompson and his wife came to lottery headquarters here in Cranston on Saturday because they were so excited only to find it was closed.

"They were still in shock when they claimed this morning," the Rhode Island Lottery Commission said Monday. "They definitely plan to enjoy some of it and put the rest towards bills."

The latest winning ticket was bought at Pacific Seafood Market at 247 Reservoir Ave. in Providence. His win last year came from a ticket he bought from Diamond Fuel at 1353 Park Ave. in Cranston.

Speaking of the lottery, those of you who buy PowerBall tickets when the jackpot gets big take notice: Wednesday's estimated jackpot is now at $245 million.
