Adolph "Papa Al" Caliri, 96, of Cranston, passed away on Monday January 14, 2013.

Adolph "Papa Al" Caliri, 96, of Cranston, passed away on Monday January 14, 2013.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antonetta (Asprinio) Caliri.

Al was the co-owner of the former Pocasset Monument Works of Providence.  He also worked as an inspector for the State of R.I. for 46 years.  He was a member of the St. Bartholomew’s Holy Name Society as well as the Sons of Italy.  Al enjoyed dancing, horse racing and above all spending time with his family.

He was the father of the late Joseph A. Caliri; he was the father-in-law of Janice Caliri; he was the grandfather of Lisa Caliri, Joseph Caliri and his wife Francine; he was the great-grandfather of John Dancause, Alexandria Brehmer, and Giacomo Caliri; he was the brother of Dorothy Golderese and Gloria Pagano.  He was also the brother of the late Antonio, John, Mary, Orlando Caliri.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston.  Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Thursday from 4-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions, in the memory of his son, Joseph A. Caliri may be made to the American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.
