Anthony J. Butts, 78, of Cranston passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving husband of Maria Corsini-Butts.
Anthony was born in Providence on October 7, 1935 the son of the late Everett and Viola (Ursillo) Butts. He was a long-time resident of Cranston, who thoroughly enjoyed the 25 years and various positions with the City of Cranston. He retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the State of Rhode Island.
He is survived by his children Anthony Butts Jr. and John Russo, as well as Alfred, Alexander, Anna Calvino, his grandchildren Rebecca Hobbs, Gabriella, Sarah, Nicholas, Joseph Calvino, Gabriel Correia and great-granddaughter Lily Ann Hobbs. He was the brother of the late Francis E. Butts.
His greatest pleasures in life were spending time with his grandchildren and taking daytrips with his lovely wife. Anthony enjoyed the simple things in life such as macaroni and football on Sundays and reading a new book. He had a good heart and could always put a smile on everyone’s face.
He will be dearly missed and remain forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
