Obituary: Arthur C. Micallef, 91

Arthur C. Micallef, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Arthur C. Micallef, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Rosalie (Soscia) Micallef. He was born in Providence a son of the late Arthur and Assunta “Susie “(Antonelli) Micallef. Mr. Micallef was the loving father of Arthur A. Micallef and his wife, Beverly( Votolato ) of Bartlett NH, Gregory E. Micallef and his wife, Charlene ( Collins ) of No. Kingstown, and Susan T. Micallef-Burke of Cranston. He was the proud “Papa” of Monica Holling, David Micallef, Steven Micallef, Robert Micallef, Kyla Burke and his loving grand-dog Yogi. He was the great grandfather of Mason Holling and Hailey Micallef.

After graduating from Cranston High School he volunteered for WW II service and served as a Bombardier/Navigator in the United States Army Air Force where he flew over twenty-five missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Arthur was the owner and CEO of A. Micallef and Company, Manufacturing Jewelers, for over 40 years. He was a member of the Manufacturing Jewelers & Silversmiths of America and the Providence Jewelers Club. He enjoyed his involvement in the Netopian Club and was past president of that organization. Mr. Micallef was a member of the Providence Art Club and was a founding member of the Alpine Country Club. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island College Foundation.

Generous and unassuming, he was a gifted storyteller. Although a successful businessman and learned world traveler, he was happiest as a true gentleman farmer at his beloved Four Winds Farm in Scituate, RI

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston and may call at the NARDOLILLLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Sunday from 5-8pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads RI, 160 Broad St., Providence, RI 02904 or Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
