Obituary: Dolores O. (Ragosta) Carpenter, 77

Dolores O. (Ragosta) Carpenter, 77, passed peacefully into eternal life on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of fifty five years of David Carpenter. She was born in her grandmother Candita’s house on Sutton Street in Providence, the daughter of the late Domenic and Rose (Bottis) Ragosta. 

She is survived by her treasured children and grandchildren, David and Mary of Warwick, and their children Stephen and Sara; Michael of North Providence, and his children, Beth, Michael Jr., Bonnie and Mara; Donna and Lawrence Morris and their children, Elizabeth Rose and Domenic of Severna Park, Maryland; and Candita and Thomas Clayton and their children Lily and Tyler of Rumford. 

Dolores is also survived by her brother, retired Superior Court Justice Vincent A. Ragosta and his wife Carmela of Providence, and her sister Evelyn Cioe Sepe and her husband John of Providence. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and by her husband David’s sisters and brothers in Vermont. In addition to her beloved family, she leaves a community of wonderful friends, including her friends in the Bridgham Street School Breakfast Group and the Sutton Street Girls, a group of close and supportive friends that were born and grew up in the Sutton Street neighborhood in Providence. 

Dolores was a graduate of Central High School in Providence, and was an active member of the reunion committee for the Class of 1955. She was also a Vincentian and was very dedicated to her volunteer service to those in need served by the St. Vincent de Paul Emergency Food Center in Cranston. 

Dolores was a voracious reader who enjoyed sharing her library with family and friends. She was also an accomplished seamstress with exquisite taste and she enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining her family and friends in her home. A tray of her Christmas cookies was a special Christmas gift to family and friends. Dolores was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston and was a Past President of its Ladies Sodality. 

Sleep in heavenly peace our Dolores. You live on in the hearts and memories of your family and friends who love you beyond all measure. 

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 31st at 8:15 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
