Obituary: Eda (Ciccone) Tasca, 91

Eda (Ciccone) Tasca, 91, of Cranston, passed away Thursday October 10, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was the wife of the late Wallace R. Tasca. Born in Providence a daughter of the late Francisco and Filomena (D'Amato) Ciccone.

Eda, a Registered Nurse, graduated from the former RI Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, where she was a pediatric nurse in the former Potter Building. 

Eda and her late husband Wally were the first lay people appointed to the Permanent Deaconates Board when it was first established in the 1970's. They were responsible for the interview process for the first Deacons appointed. She was a Eucharistic Minister and very active in various parish committees at St. Mark Church where she has been a parishioner for over 50 years. 

She is survived by one son Michael P. Tasca and his wife Susan of Cranston, one daughter, Maria Anne Tasca and her husband Kenneth Urban of Cranston and Bonnet Shores, and her sister- in-law Anna Y. (Tasca) Gattone with whom she lived in Cranston. She was the sister of Frank Ciccone, Anna Giorgianni, Livia DelPonte and the late Mary Zelano, Teresa Apici, Ralph and Thomas Ciccone. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Court Cranston, RI 02920.

Entombment will follow in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. CALLING HOURS Monday 4-7 p.m. in "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made to St. Mark Church would be appreciated.
