Obituary: George Solitro, 76, Co-Owner of Solitro's Bakery

Obituary: George Solitro, 76, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Caroline (Sarro) Solitro. They were married for the past 54 years. George was born in Providence, a son of the late Michael and Francesca (Ceglia) Solitro. Mr. Solitro was the former Co-owner and Operator of Solitro’s Bakery in Cranston. 

George was a member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society and Holy Name Society. He was an active parishioner and usher at St. Mary’s Church. He was also an avid gardener and wine maker. 

Besides his beloved wife he is survived by his loving daughters, Lora Solitro of Cranston, Elizabeth Amadio and her husband John of Cranston, Christine Charette and her husband Matthew of MA and Georgia Solitro of Cranston. He was also the cherished grandfather of Thomas and Catelyn Charette and Isabella and Ava Amadio; and brother of Lawrence Solitro of Cranston, Michael Solitro of Johnston, Armando Solitro of Johnston and Dolly Rossi of Scituate. He was also the brother of the late Pasquale Solitro. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston 02920.
