Obituary: John A. Rega, Sr., 80

John A. Rega, Sr., 80, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday July 23, 2013.  He was the beloved husband of the late Joann (DiMaria) Rega.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Josephine (Raso) Rega.

John worked as a letter carrier for Branch 15 of the Post Office for 27 years until his retirement.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He is survived by his loving children, AnnMarie Faria of Cranston, John Rega, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Cheryl Autiello of Cranston, Gina Rega of Cranston, and Patricia Rega of North Providence; his cherished grandchildren Danya, Maretta, Amanda, Monica, Joseph, David, and Talia; his 4 dear great-grandchildren; his siblings Mary Agny of Cranston, and Anthony Rega of Johnston.  He was also the brother of the late Frank Rega, Rosie Santopietro, Jospehine Perfetto, and Anna Rega.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bartholomew’s Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence.  Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of R.I., 1085 North Main St., Providence, R.I. 02904.
