Obituary: Joseph Madonna Jr., 82

Joseph Madonna Jr., 82, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Patricia (Forkin) Madonna. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Pagliarini) Madonna, Sr. 

Joseph was the owner and operator of J. Madonna & Sons Inc. Asphalt Paving for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran receiving a Bronze Service Star, U.S. Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. 

Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Deborah Palmieri and her husband Anthony, Joseph Madonna, III and his wife Lori-Ann, David Madonna and his wife Maria, Lori Stadelbauer and her husband Bruce, Patty Orabona and her husband Nicolas and Bill Madonna, all of Cranston; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one step grandchild; and two step great grandchildren.  He was the brother of the late Delores Melone and Gennaro Madonna. 

His funeral was held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: March of Dimes – RI Chapter, 220 West Exchange St. – Suite 003, Providence, RI 02903.
