Obituary: M. Louise (Moretti) Martone, 83

M. Louise (Moretti) Martone, 83, of Cranston died Thursday after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Peter Martone, to whom she was married for 48 years.

A lifelong resident of Cranston, she was born Aug. 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Orazio and Filomena (Grossi) Moretti. She graduated from Cranston High School in 1948 and worked as a secretary at Cranston City Hall prior to her marriage in 1954, and as a secretary for the Cranston School Department from 1967 until her retirement in 1996. She was a founding member of the Busy Hands sewing group, and also was a member of the Knightsville Seniors and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Feast Society at St. Mary's Church in Cranston.

She was devoted to her family and friends, and her home was the center of their shared lives. Everyone who entered was welcomed. She loved to cook, travel and read.

She is survived by three children: son Arthur and his wife Kimberly, daughter Linda Reilly and her husband Vincent, and son David and his wife Cheryl, all of Cranston; six grandchildren: Sarah Martone, Peter Reilly, Samantha Martone, Michael Martone, Katherine Reilly and James Martone; and two sisters: Anne Iaciofano of Cranston and Marie Pelino of Coventry. She was the sister of the late Theresa Moretti, Andrew Moretti, Anthony Moretti, Salvatore Moretti, Daniel Moretti, Louis Moretti and Joseph Moretti.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston, R.I. 02920.
