Obituary: S. Henry Forte, 91

S. Henry Forte, 91, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in the tender care of Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (O'Brien) Forte of Cranston for 65 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Rose (Vacca) Forte. 

Henry was employed by Executone of East Providence as an Electronic Engineer for 38 years. He was a member and deacon of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church in Cranston; a member of: RI Ham Operator's Association, Doric Lodge #38 FA & M (Harmony Lodge # 9 affiliate), Scottish Rite Valley of Providence and the RI Shriners and its Oriental Band Unit. He was a graduate of Cranston High School and attended the University of Rhode Island and Tulane University in Louisiana. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran later serving in the Merchant Marines. 

Besides his wife Shirley, he is survived by three children: Michael B. Forte and wife Rebecca of Johnston, Suzanne E. Doucette and husband Roland of Cumberland and Pamela J. Godfrey and husband Steve of Warwick; a brother: David Forte of Blue Bell, PA; eight grandchildren: Brian Doucette and wife Rebecca, Gregory Doucette and wife Dana, Megan Godfrey, Kaitlyn Godfrey, Michael B. Forte, Jr. and wife Tricia, William Forte, Christopher Forte and Cameron Forte; two great-grandchildren: Henry Doucette and Alexander Doucette. He is predeceased by four siblings: Robert Forte, Angela Forte, Loretta Wilson and Josephine Johnston. 

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 15 from 5-8 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. At the request of the family, the funeral service and burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the hospice care of your choice.
