Obituary: Verna E. (Ciasullo) Palombo, 79

Verna E. (Ciasullo) Palombo, 79, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the beloved wife of  the late Marco Palombo, Sr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Primo and Evelyn M. (Verville) Ciasullo.

Verna was the Assistant Tax Assessor  for the City of Cranston for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul  Society, and until the time of her death was an active member and volunteer at the Cranston Senior Center where she and other volunteers crafted dolls for Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

She is survived by her loving children, Elaine M. Capozzi of East Greenwich and Colonel Marco Palombo, Jr., Chief, Cranston Police Department, and his wife Michelle of Cranston. Verna was the cherished grandmother of Christopher Capozzi, Mollie Palombo, and Marco Palombo III. She was the sister of Elaine Marderosian of Cranston, Ronald Ciasullo of Riverside, CA, and Gregory Detering of Scarboro, ME.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS  Friday 4-7 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 2348 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886.
