Obituary: Wallace "Wally" T. Brown, 81

Wallace "Wally" T. Brown, 81, died peacefully on Monday, January 13 at the Tockwotten Home in East Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Joan (Hind) Brown. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Flora (Watson) Brown. Besides living most of his life in Cranston, he also resided in Danielson, CT and Stuart, FL.

Wally worked at Memorial Hospital of RI as a Facilities Engineer, retiring in 2001. He spent his lifelong career as a homebuilder and master craftsman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was member and Past Master of What Cheer Lodge #21, now affiliated with Adelphoi Lodge #33. He was a member of: the Grand Lodge Masonic Veterans Association of RI, RI Shriners and its Legion of Honor Unit, Royal Order of Jesters and the Scottish Rite Valley of Providence. 

He is survived by four children: Mark Brown of Cranston, Lois Hamel and husband Mark of Warren, Susan Brown and husband Harry Romain of Seekonk, MA, Deborah Sylvester and husband Matthew of East Calais, VT; four grandchildren: Emily Hamel, Rachael Romain, Spencer Romain and Annora Sylvester; a sister: Evelyn Murray of Coventry, many nieces and nephews, and his companion of many years Charlotte Lacroix of Rehoboth, MA. He is predeceased by six siblings: Robert Brown, Edward Brown, Florence Ellis, Dorothy Heilman, Ruth Kennedy, and Mary Reynolds.

Calling hours will be at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Friday, January 17 from 5-7 PM. Burial will be private. Should friends desire, donations in his memory may be made in honor of his son, Mark Brown, to: West Bay Residential Service Inc., 158 Knight Street, Warwick, RI 02886.
