White, Former Cranston School Committee Chairwoman, Dies

Jacqueline A. "Jackie" White, 66, passed away at home surrounded by her family.

Former School Committee Chairwoman and a longtime active member of the community Jacqueline "Jackie" White, 66, has died after a long battle with cancer.

White has lived in Cranston since 1967 and was a pillar of the community. She served as a member of the Cranston PTA for more than 30 years and was once chairwoman of the Cranston School Committee. All told, she served 16 years on the committee.

More recently, White worked as office manager for Richard F. Saccoccia C.P.A. for more than 30 years. She retired in 2011.

Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Sadi (Fuoco) DePetrilla.

She was the wife of Michael H. White for 45 yerars. She leaves behind children Kella A. White, Michele Theroux and husband Eric and was the gradnmother of Austin, Ayden and Savanna Theroux of Cranston.

She also leaves behind her brother, Bro. Giles DePetrillo, OSF, of Providence.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Stapleton-Barry-Holdredge Funeral Home, 684 Park Ave., Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bridget Church, 1231 Plainfield St., Johnston at 10 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Home & Hospice Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, 02906. Call hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery.
