How to Stop Getting Email Alerts for Every New Comment

If a conversation is dragging on and on in Patch comments, you don't have to get an email alert whenever someone posts a new comment.

Are you Hesitating from commenting on a story you've seen on Cranston Patch because of the deluge of emails you might get in your inbox every time someone else adds to the thread?

Not to worry. I'm here to help you navigate our system so you can shut off those email alerts if you choose.

Step One:

Find out what's happening in Cranstonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Make sure you're logged in. You should see your user name as a hyperlink in the top right part of the screen. Click on that hyperlink to view your profile page.

Step Two:

Find out what's happening in Cranstonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

On your profile page, you should see some links on the left. One of them says "Following." Click it.

Step Three:

The Following screen shows all the posts you are following and/or receiving email alerts for. You can click on "Stop all email updates" or you can choose which individual posts to stop receiving email updates from. You can even stop following a post all together.

Also, if you know ahead of time that you don't want to receive email alerts after commenting on a post, be sure to uncheck the box that says, "Send me email updates for this article" before submitting your comment.
