2 of 3 Miss Universe Signs Found in Grass off I-295

Cranston Police recovered two of the three Olivia Culpo Way street signs stolen less than 24 hours after they were dedicated to the Cranston Native and winner of Miss Universe pageant.

Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan said a state Department of Transportation grass cutting crew found the signs along the side of Interstate 295 near Exit 6 in a grassy area.

The DOT crew said they were mowing the grass near Central Avenue in Johnston when they found the signs on the side of the highway. A search by police of the area did not turn up the third sign.

"The signs were reported to be in good condition and they are being held by the Cranston Police for evidentiary purposes," Ryan said. "The investigation into the theft of the signs is ongoing."
