8 Hospitalized after Head-On Crash

Eight people were hurt in a head-on crash on Scituate Avenue on Saturday, but nobody was seriously hurt.

Cranston Police are crediting the use of seatbelts in a head-on crash on Scituate Avenue Saturday afternoon for preventing a bad accident becoming a terrible tragedy.

Instead, eight people are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after the crash, which happened at around 2 p.m. near 200 Scituate Ave., police said.

In one car, two adults and two children were riding while wearing seatbelts. In the other, four adults were properly restrained as well. All the adults were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and the children were brought to Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Police said they won't release any additional information about the condition of those involved and the accident remains under investigation.

A certified reconstructionist from the Cranston Police Traffic Unit was reconstructing the crash.
