ACI Inmate Convicted of Making Knife from Cell Door Metal

An inmate at the Adult Correctional Institutions has been convicted of fashioning a 7-inch knife out of metal he pulled from his cell door, the state Department of Corrections said.
Shawn Robinson was found guilty of possessing a prohibited weapon on Friday. He represented himself at the trial, according to reports.
ACI officials said Robinson is originally from Connecticut and was transferred to the ACI in 2009 after he cut a guard's throat during a riot.

Prison officials found the weapon after a strip search sparked when sent a note to a female guard, the Providence Journal reported.
