Bestway Hit by Armed Robbers

Cranston Police are looking for two black males who hit the Park Avenue convenience store Sunday night.

Cranston Police are searching for two masked men who allegedly rushed into Bestway Food Mart at 1353 Park Ave. Sunday night demanding cash.

The suspects, one of which toting a shotgun, reportedly struggled with the clerk, tried to open the cash register, but failed and had to settle for several packs of Newport cigarettes before running away.

 Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan said the suspects are described as black males wearing black clothing and ski masks.

After the two suspects fled, the clerk chased one of them outside and another struggle ensued, which led to the clerk getting cut under the left eye. 

Police said the suspects were last seen running towards the Dumpster behind the building and were between the ages of 18- and 20-years-old.

Cranston Police Detectives and the Bureau of Criminal Identification responded to the store to collect and evaluate evidence.  The robbery is still under investigation and anyone with any information is asked to call the Cranston Police Criminal Investigation Unit at 477-5140.
