Big Oxycodone Bust after Cranston Traffic Stop

Police seized 1,017 pills after a traffic stop in Cranston.

The Rhode Island State Police have charged a 28-year-old Brockton, Mass.-man with narcotics possession after he was found to be carrying 1,017 oxycodone pills after a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Cranston.

The state police said in a release that Christopher S. Legrand, 23, was stopped for swerving on I-95 heading north in Cranston.

Troopers reportedly smelled burning marijuana in the car and after a search, they discovered the pills.

State Police said Legrand was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and later arraigned at Third Division District Court on charges of possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and driving while in possession of a controlled substance.

Legrand is now being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a May 29 status review conference.
